We are located in the industrial area of Dayton, just a short 25 minute commute from Carson City or Stagecoach or 45 minutes from the South Reno area.For more info about our company, products and services please visit our web sites at www.nwtmint.com.We have an immediate opening for a WIRE EDM OPERATORTOOL MAKER with the following attributes and background to join our team.Primary FunctionThis job requires an experienced Wire EDM Operator with Tool Maker background who will be responsible for the set-up, operation and will perform other duties as assigned on a variety of standard tool making equipment. Will operate assigned equipment to include activating equipment by manual or automatic methods in a safe and efficient manner to produce products, parts andor materials according to production standards and schedules. Performing pre-make ready, preventative maintenance, expertise to troubleshoot problems on mills, and train other teammates.Duties and Responsibilities Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators. Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications. Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes. File, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together. Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools. Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary. Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects. Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders. Lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates. Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities WireConventional EDM background required. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, and drawings. Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Operation and maintenance of standard machines including deburring, bench grinders, die grinders, discsurface grinders, arbor presses, and drill presses. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Identifying complex problems and reviewing related details to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation including use of arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials. Must be able to occasionally walk, bend, squat and climb, including the expertise to ascend and descend ladders. Frequent use of feet for repetitive movement when operating equipment controls. Must be able to regularly lift andor move up to ten pounds constantly, lift andor move up to 25lbs frequently and lift andor move between 50-75 lbs occasionally. Expertise to communicate effectively with others. Expertise to work quickly and efficiently. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Requires strong attention to detail.
